Just wondering who is Neil that all of you are talking about? ESR?

Neil Pritchard, C-Leigh Racing, you can find him on the other site or facebook.  I had him port my stock cylinder and it runs great, and he's also a great guy to talk too as he knows 250R's.

If you are planning on MX or similar with it, CT is a good choice. You will get a very tractable power from whatever he sends you, will have good torque numbers HP is not real high on his priority list similar to LRD/LED if you get to talking to them. Allen will build you a engine that is not flashy but puts power to the ground and doesn't wear you out, if that's not what you are after I would continue shopping. One should also keep in mind that when they look at a CT Pro X it probably isn't altered much considering he was the designer of it, my LRD Pro X looks very plain also for the record but runs nothing like a unported cylinder.

I have one of the first 40 310jugs that did not need a spacerplate and was unported.I was never unhappy with the power, only unhappy with how long it takes to get your stuff back when they do shop work.a year ago I sent my jug to them when I finaly got it back the piston would not even slide all the way thru the bore

I have 2 CT power valve cylinders and my turn around time was actually rather fast for sending a cylinder from California and also I sent him another one I had and had him set it up with a new piston and it was just as quick.  I have talked extensively with Allen and he is very knowledgable. His "porting" is lack luster unless you really talk with HIM and make sure he does the porting.  I would recommend him for sure, more so then ESR, but then again I wouldn't recommend ESR to anyone.  My opinion so people don't jump on me.

Just got of the phone with CT and apparently the cylinder I sent them has a Rotax power valve and they said it's on old design and to upgrade to their new style. Isn't the rotax PV a fairly good design if I remember correctly? The upgrade is $175 and not sure if it's worth it. I'm not sure if this PV works as the engine came in pieces but it looked OK. I do need a gasket it for it so if i decided to run the rotax PV then where do i get parts?

Not sure about older/newer Rotax setups, you might do some investigation. My biggest concern with a Rotax is the fact that it is exposed somewhat, I've got one of those little Duncan bonnets for it but it fits less than great. The CT one is sealed up like an ESR one I believe, I like that idea better but as far as performance I have no idea how they compare. I'm happy with my Rotax, just pees juice all over, no idea what they may have changed in the guts and how that would effect it though. CT has been good with service for me, sent a cylinder and I have sent a few counter balancers there and everything went quickly and the work was good, my experiences have been good but other have apparently had bad ones.

You should be able to get the PV parts at your local Ski Doo dealer if you know the part number. Service Honda also sells them. The part number for the gasket is 420250239. The Rotax PV is a robust and time tested design are they updating to a newer Rotax PV or their own design?
