What is everyone using for an exhaust clamp?
« on: April 22, 2014, 08:51:21 AM »
What are you guys using for an exhaust clamp? I am running an LRD adjustable, with the OLD SCHOOL black and silver LRD silencer. I have the OEM honda "clamp" now, with the spring rings. I hate it. I saw some on FEE-BAY but were still kinda cheesy looking for $22.00. I like the Duncan Racing clamp ($39.99), but wonder if it will fit properly on an LRD set up? Any suggestions of a custom CLAMP, not a rubber sleeve with spring rings at each end, that I can buy???

I actually use the TM Designworks EC-101. But they don't make them anymore I don't believe. I also have the Duncan racing clamp. It works well also. It's a shame they don't make these TM Designworks style though. They work fantastic and are ridiculously easy to use. They basically just an aluminum spacer with 2 high temp orings on the inside on each end. That's it. You slide it on where the pipe ends come together, and that's it.

I've ran Cascade Innovations clamps on my R's for years.. I haven't bought one for a few years so I don't remember the small differences between what they call the "Paul Turner" vs "FMR" but you can run these on many different pipes (PT, ESR, Sparks, LRD, etc.)  http://www.cascadeinnovations.net/store/store_View.cfm?STORE_AREA_ID=10&store_dept_id=113

I went to the cascade link OJ and they are both the same part numbers for the "FMF" and the "Paul Turner" models. I also found the TM Designworks here: http://www.motosport.com/atv/tm-designworks-no-leak-exhaust-collar?ride=HONDA;TRX250R;1986&mmy_source=pdp but some shady reviews about total sealing. I think I will go with the Cascade, unless anyone else has a better solution?

I really like the Cascade ones.  Give them a call though so you can find out the differences (seems like the insert may have a different step profile) and I think you can get polished ones as well if you're interested.

Sweet. I didn't realize someone was still selling these. I don't know why a few of the guys had such a problem with them, but I can tell you this: I have been using the same one on my R for 12 years now and it still seals perfectly.

So how the heck does that clamp work? My sparks silencer is sloppy as hell where it goes over the pipe.

My cascade clamps always came loose and slid around. Now I just buy the green high heat hose they use on the inside and 2 hose clamps. Now they never slide with a perfect seal.
