Brake pads

Can anyone tell me which brake pad material is softest and which is hardest. Also are they color coordinated? My current ones have red on them

I don't know if they are actually color coordinated or not.
This chart gives a recommendation for which material to use for which purpose and will give an indication to it's rotor abrasion (what you called hardness).
