New ATC 250r Swinger skid plates I am working on
« on: May 18, 2014, 12:30:24 PM »
Here are a few pics of Swinger skidplates that my son formed for me. The stainless one with the holes in the center is for my Present 250r build. The other is for my +2 westcoast on my rider.
I will post an update when I get through with them. The one for my project is stainless and the one for my rider is alluminum.
I messed up the first one he made me.:frown-new: So i had him form me some spares..:glee:

Thank! Sorry the cancelled the race.. Thanks for posting the info!!
My son Charlie made these when I was at his place Sat. He was good enough to open up the shop and make them took him about 2 hr's to lay them out, shear, punch and form.
I have to cut them to length, and the cut outs and possible box's for the dogbone. I have to kick up the back also. Just wanted to get them formed while I could.
The stainless is 11ga and the aluminum is 1/4 inch. Both are way beefy for my terrain. The White r I am building is sort of  desert theme so I wanted to put skidplate on it. I am not really interested in the weight factor because this bike is more " show than go". I will ride it, but it will be leisure riding.
The Westcoast skid plate is just to protect the westcoast. The stainless one is going to get powder coated I think, at least part of it.
He punched the holes on an Iron worker and formed the plate on a 150 ton brake\press.

Both my swingers are plus 2". The stainless one goes on a trx 450r swingarm that i modified to fit the ATC. My son also lengthened that swinger a few years ago.

Very cool.  You are going to have a nice bike.
They moved the races to next weekend.

^^ Won't be able to make that one. Would try to make the .org ride at ST.Joe if they have one this year. Always have made plans to go but something comes up.:frown-new:

Still have mounting spacers to make. Going to put a kick up on the back and maybe on the front rails. Will polish and powder. Not sure just how I will "protect" the dog bone yet, may box it in.

Little more accomplished. Rear kick up formed and welded. Still have to buff out the weld joints, and angle the front guides.

New spacers and all bolted up. I will weld the spacers in place.
