Pic Request: 88-89 Footpegs Showing Spring Mount
« on: May 29, 2014, 12:09:24 PM »
Being a dune guy I've really only used bolt-on RIS billet pegs so I'm not sure how the spring and collar attach to the frame and peg on the 88-89's.  Anybody have a pic or two showing this?

The spring is there to keep the peg pushed down, so when you lift up on the peg, the spring will tention & push it back down in place.

Right - I understand the concept but need a pic to see what I'm missing.  The microfiche isn't much help here.  The frame has a tube on either side that sticks out.  The end is angled with a hole for a bolt or pin.  The Roll pegs I have slip over that angled part and I can stick a bolt or pin in there.  But there is nowhere for the spring and collar to go.

I guess those pegs you have are not wide enough, because the best I can remember, the OEM pegs are wide enough that the spring will fit on one side underneath the part of the frame & then the pin goes through the top part of the peg, the part of the frame, through the spring & then out the other side of the peg.

Thanks Neil. I broke out those old stock pegs you gave me and they have a little hoop where one of the spring ends sits.  So the spring sits on top of the peg's mount basically.  The Roll pegs don't have this hoop.  My next question is what does the other end of the spring secure to?  Or how are guys running Roll pegs on a stock frame and keeping the straight?  I can mount these but they angle down.

There you go, Shine Master to the rescue.
Looks like by what your saying about the Roll pegs, you'll need to do some welding & put that little tab in place for the spring to stick into.

Thanks guys.  The Roll pegs don't have the tab/hoop and the ear has been ground down on the frame.  Anybody want a nice polished Roll 88-89 non-kick up set?  I'll run the black kick up Roll pair until I track down a LSR frame.

Thanks for the pics.  Good to know the springs would work if the hoops were still on the frame!
