WTB: Hondaline Aero hood
« on: June 13, 2014, 07:03:36 PM »
Back in the 80's and early 90's, Hondalina made a nose for the 250R that was a tall, "Cowl" style scoop that mounted on the factory nose called the AERO nose. It would run from the front of the nose up to where the headlight would have been (required headlight removal). I've searched google for pictures, but no luck. But if you know what I'm talking about and have one, I'm interested. I'm currently deployed, so I don't have a phone, but you can message me here.

I can honestly say that I have never seen one of those in person. I always thought they were hideous. To each his own. Do they mount over the stock hood or in place of it? I didn't even know they were made by Maier.

They do mount on the stock hood, I do remember that. Granted, I was like 8 when my dad sold it. When I get back to the states, I'll post pictures of his. He had like 3 different ones. He raced the Mickey Thompson circuit back in the late 80's and was number 56. He had a Paul Turner built motor and I'm pretty sure he had a Paul Turner exhaust, but not real sure. I don't want to ask him many questions, because this restore is a surprise for him. But the one that had the nose, was his outdoor play bike.

As far as being made by Maier, I'm just going off of what my dad told me a while back. If it's not by Maier, any thoughts on a different company that might have made it?

Pretty sure I know someone who has one and I'm also pretty sure it is made by Honda.  I was looking at it a few months ago.   312R1  Steve, doesn't Kody have one of these?  Ugly thing but he was proud of it.  He'd probably want a bunch for it but you never what he might do on a trade etc.

Correct me if I am wrong but that hood is called an "aero hood" it was made by Honda and sold by Hondaline at dealership but had to be ordered.
The one Maier made just covers the light not the complete hood on the 88-89 trx 250r!
I will try and post some pics of both my Hondaline aero hood and the maier add on this weekend.
And yes when you find them those Hondaline aero hoods are going for quite a few dollars!!!

I can tell they are pretty rare since the only one I've ever seen in person was the one on my dads bike. He loved his and I'm just wanting it to give him back the bike he had to sell. Times were tough and he needed the money.

But when you say it went for a lot, how much is "a lot"?

My buddy has a few. He has a new one, that one isn't for sale. He has a used one that he will take $200 plus shipping for.
