My new motor is standard override 1-4 I don't have any experience with an override, I've always heard you have to be wide open or clutch pulled or your bend shift forks, is this true? If so how do u get to the starting line? I know dumb questions but don't want mess up this motor.

You cannot
down shift
for any reason when you are in gear moving or you bend the shift fork. You must be still without any movement to
downshift
. I only had an over ride once. So get another opinion before you start.

You know when you let off throttle and let the motor slow the bike down, like coasting down a hill in gear?? That's called back loading where you use the engine compression to slow the bike which puts pressure on the opposite side of the dogs on the tranny as apposed to it accelerating. Well the dogs are no longer square shaped they are beveled on the back side so when you shift under power the engaged shift fork slips out of gear once the next gear is engaged. So if you back load it basically acts like a wedge and forces the gear over bending the shift fork. So in short you can ride at any speed just make sure the motor is pulling the bike or moving the bike. If at any time you need to decelerate pull in the clutch. Don't use the engine as a brake. And a lot of times if I slow and am coasting and then want to move again I simply will rev the motor a little higher than I know where it'll need to be and engage the clutch to start pulling the bike along again.

This is interesting, doesn't seen as hard to me as I always thought, not a tranny id use on anything other than a drag application, but I feel confident enough to jockey Morse250r bike now

Awesome, thanks for the help guys. I'm not as scared to ride now. Just have to get the rest of my set up right now. Is it still 1, n, 2 with standard 1-4? Do they still have 5 and 6 or is it just a 4 speed.

1/4 is overridden and you would have to clutch 5/6 Netural is in the same spot unless you get it cut for a neutral down
