Just wanted to see some opinions on what brand of oil everyone is mixing with their fuel. I'm currently building a ESR 350 and for many years I have ran motule 800t with very good luck. I've been running a 32:1 ratio with 110 octane. I've also been hearing good things about amsoil.
You will find that people have oil preferences like flavors of ice cream, there are a bunch of them. lol. Do a little research on different kinds of oil like the castor oil based Maxima 927 and then conventional oils, and then synthetics (Amsoil, Maxima, Klotz, etc.) Also look at the technical properties sheet or technical data sheet and compare. Look for ASTM testing. A reputable oil company won't hide its oil's properties. Then decide for youself what you should run. Several have listed a few good tips like, If you run in really cold weather or use a power valve, castor type oil is probably not for you.
Maxima 927 for me 40:1 in 110 for me. Will run this oil with non ethanol pump premium/a little race gas in the new ktm 250 I bought as well. If you have ever torn an engine down with synthetic ran in it and the ones I have seen are dry as a bone no oil coating on any part I don't like that
This is not normal to synthetics. There is a different issue going on there. If it was dry as a bone, there would have been seizure marks somewhere and/or browning of the parts that show overheating. I run synthetic oil and have torn mine down multiple times, and there was ALWAYS oil coating on everything.
