Can someone discribe what detonation sounds like ?

It's got a pretty noticeable bang when it happens. It can cause serious damage especially on 2 strokers. It happens when the gas explodes early. Not the same as pre ignition ( which causes detonation)

when you wind up the motor it will sound really raspy, under part throttle mid rpm it will ping usually by the time you hear it ping its to late another couple hours and it will eat the edge of the piston down to the second ring and then you done no compression.
