Just keeping track of what members need. I will dig out the spare tranny's and see whats available. Here are the notes for today. Lets me get all the spare parts together and see whats available. Thanks guys

silverlake250r needs 90454-KF0-000 .. is the one on the end of the countershaft... and 90431-HA2-000 the very thin one by 4th gear on the countershaft

Bio86 needs #7 in the trans? Little bushing that 2nd gear rides on.

Yah if you look at the manual it says #7, I just know that's what 2nd gear on the sprocket shaft runs on. Its a fairly soft bushing.

I'm looking for a 36 tooth, countershaft first gear, if one is available. Didn't want to buy a whole tranny if I didn't need to...

Would be nice to figure out the materials for the hard to get stuff and start making them. Could sell a "rebuild" kit for the tranny that just includes all the bushings, washers, clips, etc.

I am a mechanical engineer, figuring out the materials is a no brainer. The hard part is figuring out how to make small runs of gears, transmission shafts, special splined sleeves, thrust washers, forks etc at a price customers can afford. I have the machinery it takes to make these parts. I cannot compete with Hondas retail prices making a small runs of one particular gear or shaft etc. We have to remember that when Honda makes these parts they make thousands of one part number and then makes thousands of the next part number. If enough customers are willing to pay 2 to 3 times Hondas retail price for these parts I would consider making the necessary tooling to produce these parts. The after market gears that are currently being made are the easy ones to make and are selling for about $150 to $175 each.

Well when they're obsolete I would spend the extra coin to get them for sure, that's just me though. I didn't necessarily mean making gears and shafts, just the small parts. I usually always have some gears laying around, just never seem to have the spacers, clips, etc.. How would you go about determining the actual material they used of the 2nd gear #7 bearing in my above post? Just curious.

You need to send the old part to a metallurgical lab. They can check the hardness of the part and will have to cut the parts in half to look at the depth of the heat treat, They will have to destroy a piece of gear, washer or what ever to determine what the chemical composition of the parts. A full analysis on each part will usually cost anywhere from 100.00 to $500.00 per part.

Niton sells a handheld metal analyzer for around $35k that works well, I think there should be one in every household ha.
