I want a Banshee!!!!
« on: August 13, 2014, 11:01:05 AM »
I know, this is the wrong forum to mention wanting a banshee, but I do.  I'll still want to keep a 250r, but lately I have been wanting a banshee pretty bad.  I think that would round out the stable pretty well.

Anyone else here have or want one of each?

Wow, I wasn't really expecting to get positive feedback on this, but it has been my plan for some time. I have one picked out, I will put picks up when I can actually meet up with the guy.

Not until you mentioned it, that thing is wild looking. Way out of my price range.

Yep, but not just today, for the last couple years off and on.

I really want a duner Banshee as well. You can make crazy power pretty easily and parts are still readily available.

You can get 2 CPI Banshee cylinders for the cost of 1 250R cylinder. All the transmission parts are available etc.

Come to Oregon or the West Coast for cheap Banshee duners.. 5-6k will buy one hell of a Banshee out here.  I've thought hard about picking one up "just because" but I'm hording enough Honda parts.. I don't need to start hoarding any Yamaha stuff!

It's nice that parts are readily available & somewhat cheap. I see quite a few parts lots for sale on CL all the time here in Oregon. That alone would make it worth having one imo. Another cool bike to get would be an LT500:smile-new:

Banshees certainly have their place.  It was the perfect quad for my wife, she's a decent rider and very competative, so she always wanted to be the fastest one in the group.  But her idea of "fastest" was the fastest machine, not the fastest rider, so she was looking for all motor, while the handling and ergonomics were secondary.  But she didn't want a drag racer, she wanted something she could still ride with the group, then pull out ahead when we came to a flat open section.

That's a banshee in a nutshell.

My friend has a 421 Trinity banshee. Very fast and fun to ride in a straight line, in the woods however it handles poorly compared to my 250R. If I lived near the dunes and only rode dunes, I would own a banshee also.

Buyer beware, I hate Yamaha so I am biased. Look at the swingarm, Just makes me want to puke. The blaster and YZF 450 are the only ones I have owned. Would never buy another. The YZF was fine after replacing the swinger with the Honda type. A Banshee, twin gutless 175 would not be among my favorites. Easy to kick over because the 175 is gutless. 2 pipes 2 carbs and 2 cylinders cannot be cheaper than a single. I do know they can make some good power with a couple CPI cylinders. The geometry sucks for racing.
