well seeing how people are now pulling 100hp from stock cylinders, i think it would be a great buy! even tho there is x2 of everything, the parts are way cheaper (including cylinders) bc it is the biggest aftermarket, and is cheaper investment for return in HP.

dual row round carrier? if you have a stock swingarm on a banshee you are doing it wrong LOL.

if you dont want drag bike, get some serval cylinders done up, and get some long travel suspension, you will be good to go!

PS, i dont discriminate, i love yamaha :D

Buyer beware, I hate Yamaha so I am biased. Look at the swingarm, Just makes me want to puke. The blaster and YZF 450 are the only ones I have owned. Would never buy another. The YZF was fine after replacing the swinger with the Honda type. A Banshee, twin gutless 175 would not be among my favorites. Easy to kick over because the 175 is gutless. 2 pipes 2 carbs and 2 cylinders cannot be cheaper than a single. I do know they can make some good power with a couple CPI cylinders. The geometry sucks for racing.

I definitely hear that Pumashine, there are several things I don't like, the swing arm, the ugly welds that just stare at you, the wonky handling, the backwards kick, the wheel bolt pattern, the dual everything, but man they can run good.

This is the one I'm trying to buy.

My buddy has a banshee he wanting to sell. He just moved to AZ. I think he was 4k for it. The guy he got it from said it dynoed at 100hp. I do know it is fast as hell.  I think he said it has stock cylinders with blaster big bore pistons cpi in frame drag pipes pvl ingnition. Thats about all I know.

I had an 03 limited edition banshee and I loved it.. it had a set of Toomey T6 pipes and the rest was stock.. still ran hard... I kinda regret selling it back in 05... my cousin has an 01 bone stock shee and ill be buying it next year... he said he will save It for me.. ill be setting it up as a sleeper hill shooter!! 4mill drag ported stock cylinder by either K&T or packard with some shearer in frames... a buddy of mine said I can get about 90-100hp out of a stock cylinder!! haha so that's what im going to do.. cant wait!!  -simon

In my twenties I had a banshee built all the way. Ya it was fast but here in my thirties I want Nothing to do with that tank. Horrible Geo. Seems no amount of money can make one a nice comfortable ride let alone handle well. With that said when I was younger I loved mine

I didn't appreciate my 20's but I sure do now that I'm turning 40.  I'm pretty sure that my 20's is the root cause for all my aches and pains at 40.

I also had a shee when I was in my 20's. I didn't know how much better the R handles until I bought the R. At the mx track when I was getting beat, it was by R's. Sold it and bought a streetbike. Some azz knocked it over in a parking lot and I got paid. I spent $20 on a clutch lever and had my friend that's an auto painter fix the fairing for free(along with painting an engine side cover). Bought an R with the rest of the money plus my last $100. GF was pissed. She's long gone, but the R isn't!

On a side note, I've done so many stupid things over the years that it's no wonder I hurt like so bad in my 40's. If I only rode dunes, then I could prob live with a banshee again, but working on one sucks compared to an R. Horrible chain adjustment, rear axle bearings that don't wanna stay tight and 30 mins just to take the plastic off are only a few of their great designs. I like Yamahas and own a 05 yz250, but don't want another shee. If you want one then buy one. They are pretty cheap to make pretty fast.

Just because you are a fan of the R doesn't mean you can't ride other machines.  I've been thinking about getting a Banshee for a few years now.  I've never ridden one so I am really curious about a twin cylinder two stroke--must be a monster when set up right.  They have a huge aftermarket too, and half the fun is building them.  I know they don't handle well but that's part of the challenge.

i had a banshee years ago and it is a tree magnet.  tie rod ends/tie rods, a-arms etc., needed replaced a few times due to crashes.  but with a few bolt ons you can get an easy 65 hp out of it.  maybe 65 is a big exaggeration but there is power to be had with a few upgrades.

i remember kim kuhnle used to race it in XC.  he had all the two into one stuff to get some torque.
