quick question about my jetting
« on: July 04, 2013, 01:17:35 AM »
Hey guys. Ive been talkin to tom at esr a lot about my setup and jetting and stuff. I asked  him today if 190i main 52 pilot needle in the middle 2 1/2 turns out wpuld be ok to run now that i have the oof pipe and he said yes but to richen my needle one clip? Why do you giys think he would recommend that? Setup is esr370, trx11 port, vforce 3 reeds, 1-4 override and oof shearer. Thanks!

He is telling you that to cover his a@@.  I would use a DGH needle and start one clip richer like Tom said, if it is blubbery when cruising put it back in the middle clip.  The pilot and main jet seem like they are in the ball park.  That oof should want a touch more fuel than an in frame.

190 seems rich, my puma(443cc) on bored 41.5mm carb liked 175-180mj depending on the pipe and air.

When he says sea level he means it. Pismo is about some of the best air you can get.

Johnny, there should be plenty of people out there this weekend to help jet it.  Get it up to temp, put a new plug in, then do a couple of plug chops and see what it looks like.

Not trying to discredit anyone on any recommendations for you setup...

But just as a point of comparison and illustrating how different the jetting can be from one setup to another...

My setup is an ESR 350 (78 bore on stock crank), 38 PWK/AS carb, ESR reedblock, ESR TRX9 porting, ESR ATC5 pipe and silencer running race fuel dome. I ride between 300 and 600 feet and mostly 60 to 90 degree temps.

My jetting settled on a 200 main, DGH needle on middle groove, and a 50 pilot jet.

My inclination would be that your setup would want a bit more fuel than mine..

As I said, not in any way trying to contradict anyone here... just saying as a point of comparison....
