Looking to get in contact with the guy who makes the brake stay to switch your caliper over to the TRX 450R setup?
Thanks

I'm in the process of making one to convert over the CRF front caliper to our rear - It's a twin piston caliper - the 450R rear is a Single Piston Caliper.

Let me know if that is what you prefer

I would be interested in that also.  I thought someone on here made one that used the 450R rear.

I don't think you need a "custom" brake stay

An OEM 450R brake stay mounted right up to mine. But you'll also need a 450R brake hub and disc to get it to align properly

I just went through this too actually, probably the hard way.  I laser'd out a new stay and spacer then machined the caliper bracket where it bolts on so it has more clearance and aligns with the rotor.  Was using an aluminum axle so the 450r stuff wasn't an option.  It fits up perfect, just more work than necessary.

The CRF looks like it's way closer of a fit right out of the gate, and being 2 piston probably give a better feel compared to the 450.  Mines a little spongy still even with the 450 master cylinder.

With going with the CRF-Front Caliper - You have to oblong the mounting holes to get the caliper bracket to attach.....then you have to remove 3.5mm of material from the mounting face of the Caliper bracket to get it to align. I was going to have Brackets made but the cost is too high to be worthwhile.....I'm going to finish my write up on the Conversion and post it.

It's just a shame we can't find a NISSIN caliper with the same mounting holes as our TRX.

I don't mean to jack a thread and disrupt anyone here..I would just like to ask what is really the reason for all these brake conversions?? I mean, I had my 250R calipers all rebuilt and run Streamline Brake pads, Streamline Brake Lines, and Streamline Rotors, and have absolutely no problems with braking. I guess the conversions is something different I suppose? But honestly I am kinda lost on why go through all the hassle and fabrication to do it? Unless its just to see if its something different? I also own a Honda 450R along with my 250R and I just dont understand why its worth going through the conversions as I run the same brake products on both bikes and see no difference, both bikes brake just fine :/

I switched because I fought my 250r master and rear caliper forever.  Found 450 stuff cheaper so just went with it, I like changing stuff around too.  More fun adapting something new to fit on an old bike too.

ATVRACING2 - No problem asking questions...I think it's because our calipers are 28 years old (if you have an '86) and sometimes a rebuild isn't enough to get the caliper back into perfect working order....corroded pistons or damage caused by losing the mounting bolts...I swear I torqued them!!!! my caliper was swinging around like a Stripper on a pole! Thrashing against my break rotor and swingarm.....so it doesn't look nice anymore! So I wanted to freshen it up with something cleaner looking. And without the cover for the Emergency brake makes the whole setup look really nice. :)

Here's a pic showing how far you have to oblong the front hole to get the CRF Caliper to attach to the 250R Bracket.

The TRX450R bracket has the correct Center to Center distance......but it's too close to the Swingarm for the Caliper to attach.... :(
