Looking to perhaps buy a 250r...ran across this....just curious on how much it is worth with all the work done.

He sent me some better pics.....

Any advice would be appreciated....I have a lot of experience with two stroke bikes, but not quads.

That seems like a pretty good deal for this area.

Welcome to the forum. The price sounds about right. There are mixed reviews using 450 shocks in the front. They seem to be way to high for my liking. Looks like a 67.5mm piston which is just over stock. Should have plenty of life left in the motor. Problem with the 4 mil crank without changing anything else should be addressed first.

Thanks for the quick replies....Like I said...I have owned tons of dirt bikes and I am just looking for a new toy!  I don't want to go into this experience blind, so I figured this would be a great place to start!

What else would need to be done with the 4 mil crank, in your opinion Pumashine?

If the port timing was changed just by adding stroke it can be put back closer to standard with a 2mm spacer plate. Some guys just cut the head a little deeper. You really just need to check and see if there were any compensations done. My builder sets up the 4 mils for me so I am of no help on these questions. But there are a few members here who have done it often.

You will have to address that front suspension setup. It has 450 shocks mounted up with a lowering kit.

That's a pretty good price for an East coast 250R.

Looks like you've got some quality parts on the bike and in the engine (as long as it's true). Try to measure the stroke by sticking something down in the cylinder to measure how far the piston travels

You can get those shocks rebuilt and re-valved for pretty cheap. That will make them setup for your application. Ask Andy @ Maul Tech ATV about this, he's a site sponsor and very knowledgeable

Thanks Everyone.....you people know your stuff!

I am clueless on 250r's...a newbie.......so my other question would be what would be the problem with the shock set up? Sitting too high?

I figure he has it advertised for 2500, so I may even get him to go 2200-2300. Which would just sweeten the pot, so to speak.

$2500 isn't bad but try to get down around $2000 if you can it's end of season and most people around here don't have money to buy stuff. Check frame over really well. Most of the frames in PA rust out underneath between a-arms and look for other cracks by foot pegs, motor mounts, check for case damage around sprocket.

Thanks..I will be negotiating this Sunday, if I like what I see.  I have sold a lot of bikes and I would have a hard time turning down 20 hundred dollar bills if I was asking 2500....but that's just me....we will see.

Looks like a pretty nice quad for a couple grand.  And at 67.5mm you only have one more bore for the 87-89 piston at 68mm.  Then after that you would have to switch to a 86 style piston with a spacer plate to run that cylinder any longer.  So that cylinder is close to the end of it's life.  I would offer 2 grand...that way maybe he will counter offer and you can meet in the middle.
