OEM cylinder aftermarket head?????????
« on: January 17, 2015, 01:11:18 PM »
Does anyone know if esr makes a head for an oem cylinder. Seems I had saw them before. Now when I look all I c is for pro x type cylinders. I am putting an OEM motor in my r and looking for something with better cooling,  o ring instead of head gasket, and a dome so I can get more compression and  run race fuel.

Yep, I've seen dome sizes from 18-22cc.

Coolhead with an oring is not an easy find. Most reguire gasket. I do not know for sure but I bet cool heads with o rings have been machined that way. Not sent from factory with o ring.

If you disire this application, you could have both machined for o-rings.

Machining a head for 0-rings is a no-brainer.  Setting up the head for a particular engine takes some time.  Unfortunately there is a lot more involved in setting up a head for race gas than selecting a head with a particular volume!!!!!!!!!!!

I heard that o-ring pro design cool heads were kind of rare but I have one that I got new back in the 90's that is factory o-ringed. I sold one I got in a parts lot that was also factory o-ring & had pat pend stamped on it. Should of kept that one for nostalgia.

Why not talk to a reputable builder and just have your stock head cut and o-ringed for what you want?

I run one like that.

for all intensive purposes, any "gasket" type head can be cut to accept orings instead
This is an OEM cylinder with a coolhead, oringed by JDI Racing
