Thanks I appreciate the note, I just didn't want anyone to get the wrong idea, I'll stay on the high road when it comes to ace, but not a fan... Plenty of useful helpful knowledge at times, but tainted with arrogance (IMHO). I could tell a few funny stories.....
Thanks again, for the support!

i have two of the very original screen printed Durablue axle decals that have the multi color fade across them. have tried to get them duplicated but because they r screen printed they use a halftone pattern to cause a blend and a new vinyl printer doesnt do that.

To be honest I'll probably just leave it be till I figure out a successful method on another less valued pipe. This one still kinda has an okay used patina, and sometimes that's better left alone. I've heard of a few reasonably sound methods of "restoration", but mastered none. You have to reheat (retrace) all the fusion weld lines to replicate the natural bluing in the metal if you strip the original heated look (from blasting or wire wheeling). Honestly, I'm not sold on doing all that  yet. To me they are simply nice when virgin new. I'd rather run this or my other two well used Roberts/Selvy pipes and buy a new one from Kenny for display purposes. Heck, I'd like to buy a few just to hang on the wall. They are an investment though

Like a raw cooking pan or skillet that's oiled or sprayed before use a pipe will develop a similar patina if you oil it before/after each use. Here is my new 200R pipe from Kenny (oiled-not cleared). The detail is beautiful, but will flash rust quite easily if left raw & not oiled up. The second ATC pipe is an old one with plenty of use. It's not really rusty (okay, a little bit), but more of a natural cooked in patina.
I've seen the retracing method done, but only on a far less intricately sectioned pipe (far less seam lines to trace), and yet was told it was a ton of work. ??? I'm also concerned retracing could make the metal brittle ??? I'm no metallurgist.... Another method I've been told, is to strip the rust with acid. That might work better, possibly leaving the natural bluing look intact...??

Ok, I'll take a look at that. Thanks. ^^

Well, it's almost there.... I got the body work pretty much done. Still need a couple odd & ends and my state registration stickers. Also have to adjust the front end, and I'm sure other hick ups.
The blood might of been a little over the top??

That ATC pipe is soooooo beautiful. How does he make all the cones blend into the radii like that? So smooth. That is art.
The blood is awesome

Sweet Wurks pipe!  What did it cost and how does it perform?  I'm thinking about getting one for my ATC 250R and would like some feedback before I commit.

These 200's do not run like a real performance 250, never have, never will. They were/are cool and there was a class for them back in the day which is why they were developed. If there was not a 200 class NOBODY even rob himself would of ever made a build like these 200's for the 250 class. As a matter of fact he didn't. You wanted to race the 250 class you were sold a 250 like k10's trx on here, not one of the 200's. Think of a 125 and think of a 250, they are/were in between. When I raced mid late 80's in my area there were 3 guys with honda trx250r's that had all selvey builds and all 3 were 250's like k10's thread here and I believe all 3 also had that same pipe. These 200's are very cool for the old school collector or to have an old school ride if you wish, just make sure you know what you are getting and be carefull of some built up performance expactations. It would be sad to see a regular guy spend the cash on one and then find out how a good 200 stacks up to an ok 250 if he was expecting more. Don't get me wrong here I love the old school stuff but I am seeing some build up of the 200's for today's use that made me make this post.

I appreciate your post etccb.
I don't have my newly rebuilt 200R back together yet to say anything about it's power. I have been told it should be in the neighborhood of 40+ hp as built with the matching carb & pipe. That would be amazing IMO for a 200, but again speculation. Every now and then a 200 would win a 250 heat and even a main back in the day. I'd have to dig up some old articles. Pretty sure "Fast" Freddie Conover (#63) beat & won a factory backed fleet of 250's back in the day. A healthy 200 was known to hang well with the 250's on a tight track from my magazine research. Don't think Freddie was just lucky... I was like 10 yrs old then, though, so what do I know??
I agree that building a "new" 200R is probably not wroth the high expense unless you like the nostalgia aspect. They are a niche item, not understood by everyone.
