You make 10,000 sets and then nobody wants to pay $2000 due to it screwing up how rare NOS OEM plastic is. Plus with people griping abt FB's prices, how many people do you really think wanna drop 2 g's on plastic for a quad that you can buy for that much if you shop around and find a deal? Sure it won't be mint or a laeger, lsr walsh, etc..., but it will be a R. Last R I bought was an 88 with a lot of aftermarket parts on it for $800.
I'm not even gonna start on how Honda abandoned us and 2 strokes. They are a huge worldwide corp and that amount is almost chump change to them. They just started a 6 million Ride Red contingency for racers. That amt is nothing compared to the amount they'll make on bike sales, which really comes down to parts(for them) and service(dealers) to keep all those 4 strokes running/racing, plus they'll make that money back quickly, unlike all the plastics you're dreaming of.
The writing is on the wall: it's time to support those that ARE keeping the R alive.
BTW I'm not trying to be rude, but just pointing out what I know and see. Honda sold a ton of R's, but that was a long long time ago. I'd like to know how many are actually still out there running?
