does anyone using the stock snorkel use the stock splash guard up under the hood?

Nope. Tape on the bumper and vertical frame rails in extreme mud conditions

1. aftermarket air box with outerwears "lid" mounted (Velcro)
2. stock airbox with snorkel tubes and an EHS Racing lid

as mentioned only use foam filters with the added protection of an outerwear on it.

EHS Racing lid:

I use the EHS racing lid.  Works like a charm.  Went on a super dusty ride last year and there a $.50 piece size dirt mark on my Uni.  Prior to using this lid, I used the furnace filter element over the top of the stock airbox.  Didn't notice any power loss with the EHS setup.  I also use a closed airbox, no snorkel with NAC's covers.

Yes that is where I stuff the end of the hose, it ends up in almost the same place as the snorkel.

so i used your hose idea but i ended up with a 2 1/2" shop vac hose. works perfect! i took it for a rip and didn't even have to change jetting. now who knows what will happen when its 90 deg out but ill cross that bridge when i come to it. i bought a OE splash guard but maier plastic doesnt have the mounts for the guard. how did you get yours to fit? or do you have OE plastic?

I run stock fenders so I have no idea about mounting that up to Maier fenders. Most of my air flow comes from the lid being cut, I just run the hose it has a little more.
