Hey, I'm Joe. I'm 44 yrs young....LOL! I'm in south central PA right next to PA/MD line. First got into ATV's in 9th grade, read Dirt Wheels Mag cover to cover during study hall throughout high school. My first toy was 250 Odessey. Then went to ATC 350X, then a new 88 TRX 250R. After some time ended up selling her. Then realized....STUPID!!....I should've kick myself and bought used 89. Had it a few years and ended up selling and was out of the sport for awhile. Had few dirt bikes and street bikes over the years. This past summer found an 86 ATC 250r....not mint but untouched everything stock, had a bent grab bar and brakes all needed redone, new swingarm pivot and carrier bearings and carb cleaned....RUNS GREAT....SCARY FAST! I also picked up an 85 ATC 70 and  87 TRX 350 4x4. Now when funds permit I'd like to find an 88 TRX 250R to add to the collection.

I do have a couple ATC 250R frames, a motor and an 06 450R swing swingarm that I'd like to do resto-mod with. I saw some pics on here where someone had a couple sweet looking ATC 250R's redone and on the one had a stock 450R swinger extended like 3.5". I think his username was "Fire1" does anyone know where they got it extended at?

Just wanna say hello to everyone.....and looking forward to using the forum! Thanks!

Fire1 is Tim. You can send him a PM. He is a great guy and knows everything about the ATC. Welcome to our forum. I asked Tim a couple days ago about where to get ATC footpegs. He sent me 2 links to check out who was making them.

Thanks Pumashine! I'll send him a PM. Also if your looking for pegs, "unhingedatv" makes some that I saw on eBay for like $150.

Hey thanks guys! Can any one tell me where I can download the factory service manual? I tried a couple of different links but keep getting error messages. Also been trying to research some info on installing a CR power valve cylinder. Anyone know if this is worth while and what all is involved? Any help is appreciated, thanks!

The 1986 CR250 power valve cylinder will fit onto the ATC/TRX 250R cases.  It was an expensive route that many builders took that did not know how to get state of the art power during that era from the TRX cylinders.  The ATC/TRX lower end does not have any provisions to operate the CR power valve cylinders.......so there is not any advantage to using this CR cylinder if you are looking for a functioning power valve cylinder.

Thanks for the help everyone!
Fire1....thanks for the link, but I was looking for the Trx250R manual, Lol. I should have been more specific. I already have the ATC manual. I just bought a Trx parts lot from a guy that was doing a rebuild and lost interest and time in doing the build so I bought everything from him. That's why I'm looking for the Trx manual. I thought maybe somebody would have a link to a PDF but if not I'll just get one off ebay. Thanks again!

Jerry....hey man thanks for the info, that's what I was looking for. I heard people talking about the CR swap but wasn't sure about it. In the parts lot I just bought the guy has a 310 cylinder that probably needs bored. But he has a bottom end supposedly out of an 87 that is practically new and an ATC top end with spacer plate that he just had bored to 67.5 and freshened up, the whole motor looks brand new! I hate not to use it but, would the 310 give that much more power to be worth swapping over or should I just stick with the 67.5 cylinder, ORRRRR, should I look for a 350 cylinder!? Lol. I just love these older 250R's, ATC and Trx's! You just can't beat the sound of these 2 strokes over the four strokes. I love the smell of 2 stroke exhaust in the morning!! Lol!

Thanks for for the help guys!!!
Joe
