So, since I've jumped in up to my waist, I figured I'd start my own project thread. Nothing you peeps haven't seen before, but whatthehey, here's mine anyway :)

September of 2014, homecoming day. Barn survivor, first quad I'd bought in seven years, had to be an R

Disassembly begins, had to see what was neglected and where she was at

On the lift table, shit's gettin' real, lol

Couple more views (yes, the garage is a hole at the moment, please ignore, haha)

And we have frame.

My modest home setup, getting ready to do work. Later, the frame will get dragged into work for TIG finishing work, some brazing to fill, and fine-grit sanding/smoothing.

Some of the cutting and MIG fill-in done, all wire tabs gone, fuel tank rubber mounts cut/smoothed. Had to make and add a reservoir tab, got happy with the cutoff, lol.

Some parts have started showing up. I've kept an Excel spreadsheet to track vendor, part, cost, etc, wish I hadn't, gets deep quick. All bolts are bagged and tagged and in them bins, I'd be lost if not for that.

So. There it is. The scope for this portion of the build is to replace all bearings, bushings, and seals. Cables and controls are being replaced as well. Suspension is being addressed, as well as cosmetics (smooth frame, powdercoat Jockey Blue by Prismatic, black arms, black swinger, blue accents). Engine work will have to come next winter, as I'd like to get some ride time in this year. Enjoy, I'll post more as it happens.

I'm trying to, thanks. My buddy who I ride with is a purist (think American Pickers - leave it rusty) and he literally turned and stalked out of the garage when he saw I'd torn it down. Haha!!

It's one thing to restore for originality sake, but nobody wants a rusty rattle trap!

Nice looking R, you can never go wrong with blue/white. Nice work......... Don't be embarrased, your garage is much cleaner than mine & most of the people I know.

Some more work done, little by little. Made a bracket for the tee that came with the Streamline kit, uses the existing bosses. With the plastic screen removed from the radiator it clears perfectly.

Test-fitting a sacrificial automotive-style mounted tie wrap. They're the simple little bayonet style ones that push in and are a pain in the ass to get back out - won't be reusing this one. Made the time spent cutting the tabs well worth it, as the wiring will be almost completely hidden.

Real important is you check to see if your pipe clears the bracket you made. Have had this problem many times with the pipe hitting the bracket I made to hold the brake lines

Why not just grind the corners and drop the bracket down?

Thank you. Found those on Amazon, package of 10 for a whopping six bucks. Dare I say, score?

I wanted the outputs of the tee to be at approximately the same height as before, so they'd feed right into the calipers across the top of the upper arms. If I have to, I can rework this one or start from scratch after the pipe comes and I test-fit it. The bracket is two pieces of .500" OD stainless with 6.5mm holes, machined to .375" thick. I then machined the holder and TIG welded it to the rounds. Worst case, I have to re-engineer another. Here's to hoping though.....

I tried 1/8" thick stainless spacing it straight up 1". Pipe still hit. I proly gonna drill through the frame and mount from the other side.
