Mikuni carb question
« on: March 24, 2015, 02:04:36 AM »
I just got my wife a blaster and it has the stock carb (28mm I think) and everything else is stock too btw.  My question is, do the adjustments that you make for elevation like smaller jets and moving the clip position up work the same on a mikuni as it does on a keihin?  It might be a dumb question but we are going from around 2000 ft to 7000 feet and I don't want to foul plugs all day.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks.

Yes they are. 26mm is stock carb sometimes the needles can be a buggers with Mikuni because of the 4 number and letter system there's normally tons of choices.

Thanks. I'm not planning on changing the needle itself per se, just the clip position and the main jet.  Do mikuni carbs follow the same principles as keihin carbs ?  I looked in the manual and the only adjustments it shows are for temperature lol.  Compared to a Honda manual it is lacking.

Yes because an altitude change would mean the air more or less dense.

Thanks. I hadn't ran one before.  I change damn near every thing on my carb when we go north, I figured the mikuni would be the same.  Thanks for the confirmation
