Pivot works pivot bearing kit
« on: April 08, 2015, 03:53:20 PM »
Have any of you guys installed one of these on a 88-89 250R before?? My question is about the dust seal.. To me the seal should fit into the swing arm after the bearing goes in to keep water and debris from getting to the bearings, but the seal that came with the kit are slightly to big and will NOT fit. They are a perfect fit onto the brass collar but what good would it do if it's not in the swinger??

I don't have any pics right now...... You have two bearings that gets pressed into the swing arm one on each side. Then you should have a seal that seats into the swingarm, then the brass collar... The seals that came with my kit are to big in diameter to fit into the swinger.. I even stuck them in the freezer for couple hrs to shrink them up, but they won't go no way no how

this what ur kit looks like?

the needle bearing goes into the swingarm first recessed to the depth of the inside lip of the brass collar, then the brass collar slides in, then the dust cap slips over the exposed end of the brass collar. this is how i did mine and it went together right.

Yeah that's the same kit... That's how I'm going to put mine together as well since it seems to be the only way possible, it just doesn't make much since to me that the seal doesn't sit inside the swingarm also...  Doesn't seem like it's going to keep anything out But I guess if that's how it goes then that's how it goes
