Contact the seller.  Was it listed as new or used?  Was the ebay seller a dealer or an individual?

it was sold as new from inland_atv. But it showed up in plastic zip lock bag with the blue ESR card board, but not in the hard plastic package like this photo. I wonder if someone else returned this for the same thing and they resold it.

We are seeing a lot of parts the last few years that customers got off of ebay that appear to be new but are rejects, seconds, damaged and or returned items, etc.  I think that most of the "new old stock" parts have found new homes.

Was the price way below what ESR sells the gauge for?  If so I doubt that a dealer is going to sell something new, below the whole sale price.

Take the guage off and put some teflon tape on it.  Will probably seal up.

probly just leaking at the threads. remove the gauge and use some tape or more thread sealer

i hate to say it but the gauges esr uses are junk. likely from china. mine started leaking the liquid fluid out, for no apparent reason other than the gauge is just poor qaulity. if you have problems then toss it in the trash and get a marshall. 1000X better qaulity. they aint cheap but you get what you pay for  http://www.marshallinstruments.com/products/I-14-SP.cfm

ok well if its not the threads then your only logical option is put it in the scrap bin and get a qaulity gauge like the one i posted. i see alot of companies do stuff like this. they make nice cnc parts then use cheap ass chinese components. bought one of them bearing supports for my banshee and its the same way. really nice cnc cover but the supplied bearing is the cheapest pile of shit chinese bearing. needless to say it went in the trash immediatly and i bought a skf. same thing with the banshee pancake setups. nice cnc part but it was supplied with the biggest piece of shit chinese bearing. it went in the trash also

have a look for yourself. bearing on the right is the one supplied, chinese of course. its shameful to say the least. so i used a honda bearing as you can see on the left. poor qaulity components can cause huge failures if you dont pay attention. for all you guys using hotrods cranks, i would be very cautious about the bearings. the ones i seen were very poor qaulity from taiwan. i pulled mine off imediatly for some germany skf units
