I've done a little searching on this and haven't come up with anything. Regarding the '00 '01 cr 125's and 250's what are the differences in the alternator assemblies? I know that the cdi's will swap between harnesses under any combination of parts but is there really a difference? The first part of the part numbers are the same. Even with the 500. I want to make sure I'm not messing with timing or anything else by running a 125 alternator with a 250 cdi.

I would ask someone who has workred with ignition swaps. Dave http://trx250r.org/members/105-rsss396 has done alot with the ignition systems. Send him a PM to get good answers. Dave is a great guy to deal with.

i talked to dave and he helped me out a lot but i decided to take it one step further and do a little more experimenting on my own. im also adding in the '02 cr250/ '03 cr125 to 2007 stuff as well. from my initial quick inspection there are actually parts throughout the years and ignition types there are actually compatible with each other across the board. i still have a long way to go but i will update as i figure things out. heres the pile i have so far. i still need to get a hold of a '02 + harness, voltage regulator, and cdi.
