Just curious how many of you replaced your case bearings like the tranny shafts and shift drum. Mine feel good and spin as they should and I haven't seen bad ones so it seems like they rarely need to be replaced. Thoughts fellas?

If you have it opened up already, I would go ahead and replace all the bearings. Then you know without a doubt everything is good and will be for a long time. These bearings last a long time if you take care of your engine. Keeping the oil relatively fresh and performing normal maintenance will help make the bearings last. Most times unless something goes wrong in the bottom end, you will be rebuilding top ends before the bottom end needs rebuilding. Again though just cause you have it split now may as well replace them. Splitting an engine isn't the hardest thing but is more involved than anything else.

The thought crossed my mind but I almost feel like its not necessary. Whos had one of these bearings fail on them?

I would at least replace the tranny shaft bearings. Shift drum isn't a huge deal I don't think

If anyone wants to give me the 4 bearing numbers for the shafts id appreciate it, the part finder is a cluster f##k

Yes to shaft bearings, they are almost constantly spinning. But I don't replace the shift drum, it doesn't even see 0.000001% of the rotations and use the other bearings do. It's a risk I'm willing to take. The only time I replace that guy is if the tranny grenaded and there are metal shavings everywhere, it seems like all the flushing in the world doesn't get the shavings out.

Ended up getting all 4 shaft bearings and 2 oem 7 ball main bearings all in oem honda packaging for 79 shipped, amazing the deals to be had when you search part numbers instead of machine model...

thats a heck of a deal. you should list up all the part numbers. all balls and boss bearing have kits with all bearings and all seals for $100 something i think

I just took the numbers off the riva racing parts finder and searched them one at a time all oem. On a side note, most the bearings weren't from large stock just sellers with one or two, I actually paid $10 shipped for each main bearing and like I said all in sealed honda packaging
