Ok guys so the story is I traded a rm250 for a trx250x with a 350x swap, and he threw in a 89 250r frame and a bunch of other parts. So I decided to do a ground up build. This will be a very slow process I'm sure because I change my mind on things every 15 minutes...lol. Anyways here are some pics to get started. Hope everyone enjoys.

So I sent the frame off to be blasted and coated in gloss black.

I was going to buy a pumashine gusset kit, but a few other R riders around my area don't run them and said it's kinda overkill for the 310 motor I plan to run. I still don't know if I made the right decision by not going with one.

So that's where I'm at right now. I guess the next purchase will be some +3 +1 Fullflight arms in red, and some 400ex spindles, rotors, and hubs with yfz calipers, and a set of trx450r front shocks.

If it were me I would have done that gusset kit. Don't mean to rain on you parade but if your gunna be mxing it it would have been a good idea. I feel the jumping would have a lot more to do with frame issues than the motor. Also if you do the 310 and stay Into this build I guarantee you will eventually go bigger. But if you had the frame stripped and blasted it would have been a good idea to gusset it. Just my 2 cents.

Yeah I am kinda kicking myself in the ass for it, but what's done is done. I'm not a pro rider and it won't see a huge amount of races, just a hobby sort of thing.

I'm going for something like this quad. Which is just beautiful in my opinion, so props to its owner. And this doesn't look gusseted to me, but I could be wrong.

They are fine until you get the first crack. Once you get one, you start to get them everywhere. But its ok. You get to ride it, break it and build it again. That is the whole fun of powersports. I like the look you are going for. That is an interesting front bumper, I have never seen that one before.

You need to dirty up you garage! It is way to clean, you are making me look bad.

It doesn't usually look like that trust me...lol. It's usually a mess, my son is building a 91 Kx250 from the ground up so he usually has everything everywhere. And I won't be going with that bumper, I'll poll go with this one.

Duncan bumper is a classic. I run them, but have been looking for a timmy boy. They are super rare. I am better of buying a welder, notched and bender, then learning how to fabricate.

Very cool that your are building a bike with your boy. ��I wish I could have had that opportunity with my dad.

if the bike is still apart i would cut your losses with the PC and strip it back down and do the gussets. you will destroy that stock frame on a MX track.

That ebay timmy boy is a bit rough. I have been eyeing it though. At least it would be a template.

So about your frame. Years ago, I had an 88 frame I powder coated. After a season of riding it in the sand it was cracked in several spots. i was beating it pretty good though. Lots of jumps, lots of whoops
