Hey guys new to this forum, looking for some advice from people who have alot of experience with the 250r as i do not. There are two nice R's for sale locally and wanted to see what you guys thought of them and can tell me if they are good deals. Im looking at doing mostly desert riding and some mx riding.

The first one (the grey one) has pretty much no engine work with a new top end but may some porting work. The list consists of Front Works Performance triple rate w/ reservoirs, Works Performance rear shock dual rate, No link LoneStar swing arm, New carrier bearings, Durablue extended rear axle, New brake pads, JP Frame, +2 wide and +1 forward JPA-Arms, Aluminum Air Box, K&N Air filter with pre filter, Desert Tank, Pro Taper bars, Twist throttle, Lonestar +1 1/2 steering stem, Stabilizer, Maier Silver Race Plastics, Ceet seat cover, FMF pipe and silencer, DG front bumper, DG rear grab bar, Boswell race carb, Boyesen Rad valve and carbon fiber reeds, Steel braided front brake lines, Outerwear Shock covers. The frame and arms are chromoly and unpainted. He has it posted for $4500. He will take $4000

The second is has a brand new 330 ct build motor, whole motor was built everything in it is new. Arens Bros Racing frame. Laker plastics, Works triple rate shocks in front with remote res and an Ohlins rear shock with remote res. Air Stryker carb, extended A arms, extended swing arm, no link swinger, extended axle, CT pipe, stabilizer. He wont move past $4200

I think the grey one has more goodies and is cleaner but i like how wide the red one is for mx. Please let me know what you guys think I appreciate the advice!

I'd look for more of a good stock one then build it for you it'll be cheaper the first time, I got mine down I'm Arizona for 1800 with stock 86 plastics works fronts, reworked rear, and a few other things done to it.

that grey bike has been for sale on CL for over 3 years , and hasn't sold. It is an aftermarket framed bike so it can be a good start for a build. That red 330 the is fairly new but for that price I would get a cheap one and build my own just like Jared suggested .

Thats what im thinking about doing after talking to him also. I keep seeing cheap parts out there. As much as i want one now, I think ill wait for a good deal and build it the way i want.

I agree with those guys being in AZ you'll find one in no time and besides it's a lot more fun to build it yourself

Tyler that one I sent you is honestly a good deal with stock 88 plastics and A Jerry Hall motor/pipe set up.

That 86 isn't a bad deal but if got a to buy a Jerry hall built one like skeans said I'd personally buy that one

yes i believe it is too, im trying to arrange a meet with him. I also found the one listed above he is willing to take $1500 and the plastics look to be in better shape but he does not know how fresh the motor is. Should i consider looking at this one?

$2300 for the 88 with a Jerry hall motor is a good deal and the 88/89 250r are more desirable

Ill trust you guys since you know what your talking about. All i see is a price tag since i have no experience. Was Jerry Hall a big name back in the day?
