Ill trust you guys since you know what your talking about. All i see is a price tag since i have no experience. Was Jerry Hall a big name back in the day?

Jerry is on this site and still in business down around Phoenix and a very good builder as well as very knowledgeable.

I would go with the 88 skeans posted the link for. Then you have money left over to put into on mods to fit you.
88 hybrid 431 puma
88 (BOF Build) stock motor and oem 89 plastics
More in the works

I would go with one of the model bikes. Aftermarket chassis is a good starting point. When you start changing over stuff you will have aftermarket parts to sell off. You are going to have to go into the motor, so that's a wash. Ct330 would make a good starting motor, just need a good pipe and it will run. Arens frame comes with a good reputation. I think his price is a bit high, but if you bout the 88 and slapped a frame on it, and motor and shocks, you would be way over the $4200

Decided to pass on the two expensive ones i originally posted. Im going to buy a 250r i looked at yesterday. It has a fresh built motor with 3 hours, new trans, bottom and top, esr 310. pipe/ silencer, lone star axle, hubs, +2 arms with new works shocks. good plastics, frame, tires, and rims . Theres a couple things in going to change but i feel like it is a great stating point for $2500

Does the guy have paperwork to prove the engine is fresh & has a new trans & all that stuff? New tranny's aren't that easy to find & if it has a wiseco crank run the other way. Lots of people on CL like to claim they have bikes with all new engine internals with low hours & what not when they really don't. Not trying to discourage you just don't like seeing people get ripped off. Good luck with your purchase & welcome to the 250R brotherhood.

Well put. Do your due dilegence and check the facts. Bottom end rebuilds aren't cheap.

I am always looking at bikes, and it cracks me up how many people post, "low hours", "fresh this and that", and the bike is clapped out.

Thanks fellas cant wait to get this thing dirty tomorrow! Yes he gave me a folder full of receipts and everything was done locally here in az from a reputable place. It has a hot rods crank and the actual gears arent new but all the trans bearings were replaced and some shift forks were replaced. The gentleman i bought it off was very nice and straight forward. He had built this quad for himself but realized he was getting to old to ride so he had to give it up. I cant wait to start tearing it apart and building it better, here are some pics, tell me what you guys think!
