Jakes 363 Build
« on: March 19, 2016, 09:16:44 AM »
I have my 89 that I've been building over the last 6 years just upgrading some parts here and there and for the most part it's been done.  but I've recently decided to have a motor built (the first time ever not doing it myself) and I'm super stoked! I bought a ESR 350 builder kit and sent it out to Pete @ Hybrid Engineering and had him go through the lower end and get everything up to par.  Glad I did that because my counter balancer bearing was going bad the holder was out of spec the main bearing housing was loose and the the deck height on the cases were off by quiet a bit... He also repaired a crack in my case, install new hot rods 4 mil, ported the cylinder And reassembled everything for me.   It should be back in my hands by Wednesday of this week and all I will have to do is install my clutch and ignition and I'm ready to rock!!

The motor will be accompanied by boyeseen reeds, 38mm air Stryker, K&M filter in a cfm aluminum box no lid,2001 cr ignition, ESR counter balance holder, Hinson basket with the oem HD kit, and a brand new ESR 5b pipe and silencer

And my new Pumashine front motor mounts which are beautiful!

Should be a sweet ride. Did you ask Pete about running that TRX5 pipe, with that size motor? Doesn't that pipe still have a 1" I.D. stinger?

I'm interested in hearing about how your motor is going to preform. I've talked with Pete about the ESR 363 vs a sphynx.

The stinger is 1 1/8" and yes when I originally started talking with Pete he said that the 5 pipe is a very good pipe and that he has built several motors almost exactly like mine with the 350 and 330s accompanied by the 5 pipe.. He said the standard pipe that I had would work fine but I could probably tune it better with the 5b..  I always thought that the B pipes had 1 1/4" until I bought this one and measured it. But I guess the difference is in the main pipe? I have another thread on here called "ESR 5b" talking about it if you want to check it out.

I'm not sure about the sphynx they say they make a little more power but I can't imagine its that much More, at least to make up for the price difference.  I spoke with Arlan at LED when I was shopping around and he wanted like $1700 just for the cylinder

I rode Jared's (skeans1) sphynx 363 and loved it instantly. I have a esr310 built by Pete that will impress most people. So I will always have Pete build my motors. I think the power to cost ratio is pretty good on the ESR cylinders.
