Letting others ride your stuff?
« on: March 02, 2017, 10:21:36 PM »
How many of you guys let other people you know or have just met (within reason) ride your stuff?

Reason I ask is (long read) sorry hahaha

This last weekend we went on a weekend trip to sandlakes in Oregon. There were 10 of us and we brought 3 bikes and 7 quads. One quad broke 5 min in. So now we have 9 rides.
Here's where it gets interesting....One of the guys brought 4 quads but only wanted specific people to ride each quad and the other ones had to sit. (his stuff, his decision)
My buddy and I brought bikes, So we start talking to the "neighbors" dad and son ask a bounch of questions about the bikes so we say they can ride them if they want. Son instantly excited and they offer to trade us for a ride.
Next day they come over and the son and I go for a ride. He did good for a 12yr old on a 450 and first real big bike in the sand.
Now once the guy that rode down with us seen we were letting people ride our stuff he starts letting everyone ride his. Not dictating who's riding what like he had been. Previously over the weekend.  Just thought it was kindof weird but is it just that, that's the way it is?
Only thing I told the kid was don't hurt yourself, the bike can be fixed you can't.

Never really let just anyone throw a leg over my R & probably never will but when my 350x was running I always took it as a backup/community ride & anyone in our group that wasn't an idiot was more than welcome to ride it as long as they could get it started..... Plus watching amateurs try to start it was always worth a good laugh.

if they are an experienced rider I will let them try it.  i once let a guy who only rode a 400ex ride the 250r and he nearly wrecked it several times, not understanding the power delivery.

I only let experienced people ride my quads. Lol this one guy from my old job let some new riders ride his kfx700, and the one dude destroyed it into a tree at sandlake. Totalled it and said he would give him money to replace it and the guy from work only got $500 I believe.

Only daughters and two of my good friends that are experienced riders are allowed to ride mine. A lot of people think they can ride but are not used to a two stroke.

I hear what your guys are saying, these were 400ex and 250ex that "nobody" is allowed to ride and his 2 banshees for the most part anyone could ride them.
I'm all about not letting people ride stuff if they're incapable.
Very few people I'd let Barrow one of my bikes, but if im riding with ya let's go, u can ride one of my bikes.

A lot of people think they can ride but are not used to a two stroke.

A friend I ride with has a 400ex with a stout powroll 416 kit & he's a pretty good rider but he told me he rode a buddies R once & flipped it over backward going up a hill when the pipe hit & yard sale'd that poor R down the hill.... 2-strokes are definitely not for everyone & for the guy to let people ride his banshee's & not the EX's is just plain bassackwards.

I don't like to ride other people's stuff, I have bad luck with that shit.  Some people's loaner stuff is half broke already and I don't want to be blamed when it let's loose on me lol.  That said only my real friends who I know can ride well touch my R.  The twist throttle throws people off.  Everyone can ride my blaster tho
