Gearing help

Hey. What gearing should I try for 22" 10 paddle haulers?
I'm looking at roughly 55-60hp and 4" extended swing arm. I wan't to be able to launch in second gear still.. should I stick with stock gearing?

You will need probably a 42 out back. With 13-40 I was not able to launch in 2nd. With 22 8 paddle

I run a 13/38 with 22" 8 blade paddles with my motor around 65hp mine bogged launching in 2nd ask Loren I believe his launches in 2nd pretty good

Well that's no good. I'd prefer to launch in second for sure.

Since your on the lighter side stock gearing would probably be fine for you to launch in 2nd. I weigh about the same as you & always come out of the hole in 2nd with stock gearing. I run a 20" 8 paddle hauler but have probably 15-20hp less then you do so it should be close to the same.

13-42 gearing on my bike and I launch in second no prob. My swinger is a +3 and my tires are 21-12-8 9 paddle. The 42 is actually a rear sprocket from a 400ex.

Hmmm those are interesting. I may have to try one, my renthal aluminum has held up well so far.
