Thanks Tbone. Those Trail Pros were tough with a capital T. That reinforcing bead saved a lot of rims for me. Heavy tho. Not good for a Blaster haha. I was always looking for tall tires. The Carlisle Trail Hawk was a tough ass 23.5 tall front but for an 11” rim. My brother bought a Banshee and it came with a pair of 11” rims that were drilled for both the Yamaha and the Honda. They had the name “Bringle” stamped on them. I liked those. I had Douglas Wheels make me two sets out of their thick stuff and I welded rings in them. Unfortunately 11” tires aren’t that readily available in tough ass anymore.

Got me some weldin ’ gas today. No awards for beads but I’m all I can afford. Haha. Finished up the air box, unless the chain or brake hits under full bottom out conditions. I also got some work done on the steering damper mount. I’m a big fan of the Scott’s damper.

Very cool man!

Friend of mine raced Baja on a very similar build. A banshee one year as well.

I wish I had seen this sooner....I would have suggested a Can-Am DS450 intake tube.....worked great on my 650R build....but I see you've welded up your Airbox...so I'm too late! :(

I remember those pictures but I couldn’t remember what intake it was. Haha . Thanks anyway. I think I have a plan. It’s pretty hairbrained so I’m not gonna talk about it just yet. In the mean time I figured out what was hitting the 350x air box so I cut it for clearance so at least I can get it running.

Well I spent all day mocking everything up to see if there’s going to be anymore changes. Obviously I have to rebuild the brakes and shocks before I can go farther. There’s a lot of cleaning. Everything has old grease, dust, and I’m pretty sure there’s some black widows hiding in there. She needs all new hoses and I have to figure out where all the electrical connectors go.

I like the long hoses on the Works Performance shocks I had on back then. It reminds me of a buggy. I’m going to start with those. I bought these resi clamps a long time ago. I was surprised and happy when I opened the bin and found them. I’m a big fan of Ohlins but I don’t have those right now. I took these all apart to clean up and send off for service. Most shock guys won’t touch Works anymore. I’m going to contact Schmidty from the vendors section.

If that doesn't work out try Worx Performance. Basically the same as Works Performance. Might be able to help you out

My "R" had a 600R motor in it, but when  I bought it, it came with no motor. The frame had been modified on both the lower and upper tubes, which was almost ideal for the 350X motor that is in it now. The lower tubes had been dropped ~1.5", the tube between the foot peg mounts, was placed lower, the link mount was moved and shortened, and the left upper tube had been pulled out to accommodate the head. The frame mods had been professionally done and needed no work, but I replaced both upper tubes to ensure that the frame was straight. The frame was cracked in all the usual places (it was a desert racer) and I repaired, fish-plated, and made gussets for all but the swing arm pivot, and front shock tower, which I got from Pumashine. I run a huge oil cooler, using JIC AN fittings and stainless hoses. The swing arm that came with it, was cracked badly, so it was replaced with a +2" Lonestar unit. I run a 400EX header pipe, Supertrapp, and pumper carb. The frame is almost ready for powder coat, I just need to weld in a battery mount and a rear master cylinder reservoir mount and then magnaflux the frame for any hidden cracks. The rear brake pedal was crazy modified, and got replaced with stock. The foot peg mount threads were shaky, so they got 1" long time-serts to return them to factory, or better. TRX450r foot pegs and heel guards finish it off.

DesertR did you put an electric starter on it? Is that why you need a battery?

No electric start, but I wanted a battery to run my LED lights, and converted the stator to DC. I bought a battery box out of a Yamaha Zumba cw50 (light and little)

She’s alive. It was an oily mess getting all the air out her oil lines but she bbubububububus along just like she used to. I may be able to do brakes and little things but shocks are going to have to wait until I start getting a paycheck again. Haha

It’s a good thing I have a tractor....I would have had to knock the stand over to get her off haha. Well she’s on the ground. Still no rear brakes but the fronts work. Had some old shocks that are good enough to hold her up.
