Author Topic: Anyone know which yr 450r hubs/spindles correct geometry on 400ex gibson lt arms?  (Read 4383 times)

So iv got a set of Gibson lt arms on their way, they are 400ex geometry & i know you can't run a 250r setup... i already have a 400ex setup that will correct camber but don't like the single piston brakes & besides an adapter or yfz450 calipers, iv been told that 450r setup will fit, which yr setup though?  04-05 or 06+? Thanks

04-05 are the best for the 450r, some say the 06^ work best for using on a 250r. If IMO the 400ex spindles with yfz calipers works the best, and alot cheaper. Ive used that setup on 3 quads.  If I remember correct the 06^ resembles the 400ex geo, someone correct me if Im wrong please.

06 trx450r spindles are close to the same geometry as the 400EX

There are enough threads on the heims to use either.

I know this is an old post that we all dug up but oh well...

Honestly the only real benefit for getting the 450R or YFZ calipers will be cost... you can usually find a pair for $50 and parts are still readily available, that is the advantage.  Braking performance as far as I'm aware is the same.  Importantly make sure you run a good master cylinder too, I'm personally a fan of the 400ex front master and thats all I run.

Back to the original post... I don't get why everyone is caught up on the running of the 450R setup.  Personally I'd only bother with it if I had the stuff laying around.  If I were to go buy a setup for any front end right now it would be 400ex spindles, yfz brake calipers, and 400ex master cylinder...  Cant beat the fact that its the cheapest and works the best (sometimes you can have your cake and eat it too)
