Silver Lake Opening Weekend

Had a pretty decent weekend, the weather Saturday was about 40-45 and sunny, 50 and sunny on Sunday. Better than rain, that's for sure!

There was quite a bit of snow in the parking lot yet.

Lake Michigan also still had quite a bit of ice near shore, it looked open further out.

Quad ran great at first but sometime in the afternoon started to backfire and run pretty bad, and eventually would hardly stay running so I tore the carb off and found this.

The needle clip also was broken, but the needle was still stuck in the slide, so it would still run but the needle must have been moving around a lot, hence the fact it barely would stay running at times. A new clip, and a new set of V-Force 3's and she's running perfect again.

All the drag strips were pretty wet and flooded, the one by the beach had some areas along the sides that you could still run on, but if we get a lot of rain this spring I don't see them drying out this year unfortunately.

what is it with you and needle clips! I gave you one a few years back out in the dunes haha

I have never been there when there was snow, and those piles in the parking lot might be there until memorial day weekend if it does not warm up :(
Anyone looking for a great builder I highly recommend the following.
For CP products dealers I would recommend:
Arlan at LED(site sponsor), Pete Schemberger at Hybrid Engineering, Mat Shearer at Shearer Custom Pipes, Dennis Packard at Packard Racing, and Nate McCoy of McCoys Peformance.

Other great builders I also would recommend: Neil Prichard, Jerry Hall, Bubba Ramsey and James Dodge.

Yes, I remember that! I didnt figure this one out as quickly because when I took the carb cap off, the needle was still in the slide!

How was the bigger tank? Did it seem bulky when riding?

Nice!  I would love to get some riding in soon.  Yes we also have alot of snow left.  There isn't any bare ground around here besides my driveway.  I had a clip break for my needle a few years ago racing and winning Open b class....I was very disapointed.  Lucky it didn't go while I was on a big jump.

Which tank do you have? I have been considering an oversized but can't decide which one.

IMS 4 gallon, I think it sticks up much less than the Clarke or IMS 3.6, they got a lot more volume under the tank, and forward.

Getting the itch Marc! Snow or no snow. At least we can see ground! How was the hill tops? razorbacks? Packed down or has there been some wind up there to fluff them up?

Thanks Dave!

George, its pretty packed, and the hills are not peaked but they all are pretty good step-up jumps right now; the ridge is on the north side, and then it goes up further to a rounded peak.

steps up are fun when they are coming from the north side. better than the surprise holy s%$! step downs when they are on the south side.

I agree with Dave awesome job fitting that IMS.
