443 Puma - Dune Motor Build
« on: June 18, 2016, 06:16:08 PM »
This build thread is a bit overdue.

Been toying with the idea of building a big Puma for the dunes over the last couple of years.  No donor bottom end was supplied so the majority of bottom end parts are NOS or OEM take-outs - definitely NOT a cost effective way to build a motor!

Started with a set of OEM ATC cases (complete with VIN stickers), courtesy of   Redred55:

Puma top end shows up @ Hybrid Engineering:

Had Crank Works build me a +6mm from OEM halves.  Now for the crank porn:

Assembly begins:

Looks great when you start. Be sure to get lots of pics after assembly. The bottom end polish will only last so long, so savor it while its still shiny.

I saw that crank at Pete's, when I dropped off my motor last month. Pretty impressive workmanship, with all the heavy metal they added and that massively reworked rod.

No override.  2 different Puma's.  This motor is going in my dune bike.  The LSR hillshooter already has a Puma in it.  :D

Yes it really is gorgeous.  I took it to Crank Works personally with I was in AZ and checked on it a handful of times to make sure it was exactly as desired.  There was a ton of work involved on their end and the $1300 bill reflected that!
