Seems like most of the guys that had them have switched to something else. Like Jerry stated I think the most important thing is having the proper parts needed to tune. It seems smart to look around at the people you ride with and see what they have. When your around camp and suddenly need a jet, or needle, you dont want to be the odd man out.

Im pretty sure the newest ones out loon like the 450r arms.

9
It can also be as simple as a variation in tire size. Say your on 20" fronts and some else sets the chassis at the same extended/comp lengths. Now the shock dimension changes. I always set mine up for the smallest tire I will use. Like I said its always worth double checking. Also I think the newest arms are even different then the ones you have there.

10
Maybe there are different gen of arms. They have changed the look a couple of times. Wayne set the bike up when it was new the peps that came off it were 18.75, Im building axis now. Axis calls for 18.75. I have done my homework. I always cycle my own suspension after I ask the shock builders for specs to double check it. This is one of the first frames, where axis was right on. Had nothing to do with what I like. This is the way Maul/Derisi/Gt thunder etc tell you to set up the chassis before you have them build shocks. Im not upset wither. Im just reassuring you, Im not guessing on this.

I dont care what their website says. I have the bike on my bench and have cycled the suspension. It will not even compress to 13.375 without binding the tierod, and 18.75 extended gives the bike 13" of ground clearance. Even that is higher then I would prefer. If you ran 19.25 you would have to be way deep in the travel to make the ride height even close to correct.

I have a set of dc4s the correct length is 18.75 ex 13.5 compressed. I recommend running 88/89 250r spindles. The 400ex gave it a significant amount of bump steer.

Try a different needle diameter. Like a dgj or dgk. My 310 ran 42-48 pilot.
