Need pics of vintage TRX pipe
« on: October 27, 2014, 05:36:13 PM »
Hello I am trying to ID the pipe on my 87 250R. Its definately vintage from late 80s to early 90s. The quad has sat since 1995 and the guy I bought it from said the pipe was on it when he bought it around 1992. There is no name tag on it. I think it might be a Bills or possibly a Cobra. I am out of town right now but will post pics when I get back. Meanwhile, if anyone has pics of their old skool pipes I would love to see them and maybe ID it. Thanks

Brad

I browsed ebay for pics. It seems that the Bills, Cobra and CT all look very similar.

I have a cobra I believe. No tag on it and I don't have a way to post pics. PM me with your cell number and I can send a pic.

If it's an old school pipe and you have pics, I think that's what he's asking for...

Just to clarify; I'm not looking for a vintage pipe. I am trying to identify what brand/mfg. of pipe is on currently on my TRX. Then I can decide if its worth keeping or replace it with something better. Thanks for everyone's help.

Decide if its worth keeping by the the seat of your pants,or the twinkle in your eye. Many of the modern day pipes are much better than the old pipes as far as power goes. But if you are looking for nostalgia, or vintage look then you should find that in your existing pipe.

Here is a few pics of the pipe. I now think its a Cobra pipe thanks to the help of Mennis1971. I found some old dyno info online and it produced about 40 hp. Not much better than a stock pipe

If they don't have any type of ID tags on them they will be a bit harder to ID. But one full pipe if it has no ID and silencer comes off stinger and then comes off of head pipe like a 3 piece pipe that is a Selvy pipe.

Def looks like my cobra. IDK how much of a gain it gave since I never rode mine with it's stock pipe that came with my quad. Glad I could help.

It will probably get replaced eventually or something newer and nicer looking.
