master cylinder not working
« on: February 15, 2020, 02:51:27 AM »
i have just rebuilt my front brake master cylinder. i bought a new piston/spring and gaskets. i used them for awhile but then needed to powder coat it so i took it apart completely all plastic and rubber out of the body. then sand blasted and powder coated. when i went to put it back together and bench bleed it it would just not compress the fluid and push it through the hose. could the gaskets be bad? i did just replace the whole thing. it all has one ride on it. and before the front brakes were a bit squishy but still locked up and worked. i didnt care abut it and stilll dont care if theyre squishy. but they need to work. any ideas and appreciate any advice.

Possibly something was damaged when you reassembled??? Are you still using the oem hoses?

When you tried bench bleeding did you have the end of the hose opposite the master cylinder submerged in fluid? I bled my brakes from the calipers after I rebuilt them & couldn't get fluid through to calipers until I submerged the bleeder line in a jar of fluid. I heard of guys pushing fluid into the brakes from the calipers but haven't tried doing it that way yet.

i have tried bleeding with the opposite end of the hose and with brake fluid and not brake fluid and neither worked. but i took it apart again and found some parts of a rag down in the barrel of it and havent tried bleeding after that because i had my whole front end apart and its hard to keep the rotor in the calipers without it all being together. but got it together last night and i will try it again today
