I disassembled an old engine I had to see how bad the case damage was. The left half needs more work than I want to work with.
issues
* pretty substantial lower crack
* the shift arm bearings have lost concentricity. the shfit arm can be pushed in and out of the lower bearing, but it takes some force
good
* all the bearings are still press fit. I removed the ms small bearing to inspect the case. the main bearing came out when the crank was pressed out (it was not looser).
* at basic glance, the gasket surfaces appear in good shape.
