Building another 250r....has been a few years!
« on: August 31, 2013, 07:53:23 PM »
Well guys.  Has been since 2006-ish since I last built a trx250r ( I have built and owned over 10)

Time has come for me.   After messing with cdales for the last year I plan on getting back to my roots.  After selling .net I got out of it, and really do miss it!!!

I will post build progress on this post as I get parts together

I will be using a lot of my cdale parts ( elkas, front end, rims tires....) on this build.   It's crazy how much of a copy the cannondale moto was to a trx250r.  At least in the front end design.

I am hoping to use my 86 frame that I've had kickin around.

Want to find or make a no link swingarm.  I am going to run the 15.5" no link Elka that I have

As for the motor .... I still have tons of parts kicking around.  I picked up a set of mint cases.  Going to start there :-)

I will also be powder coating every piece of this quad in house.

Will have pics soon!

And for the powdercoating

Not bad for a 27 year old frame that almost got scrapped by the previous owner!

I went with "super mirrror red"

Off to a great start, i can't wait to see the finished bike. Those are very nice weld's you did on the engine mount. What mig welder are you using for that?

Its confirmed.  As i thought

The cannondale moto front end is pretty much a direct bolt up

Had to play with spacing and caster a bit

But overall very simple

The shocks also Are long travel, i only had to machine the upper spacers on my lathe to fit the trx frame

That's really good to know because I got a 120V 140A miller & I was wondering if it would work good enough to weld in a gusset kit on my frame. Are you using 75/25 with .030" wire? Thanks for the info & keep up the good work.
