370 keeps dying
« on: September 24, 2013, 02:13:00 PM »
I am stumped on this!! I warm up the motor and go for a ride and it seems after it warms up it seems to run out of gas but has a full tank and I'm running a pingel petcock and it isn't plugged, and I put a esr reed block and reeds on cuz that was the problem last time. I'm lost as what to try next.

are sure the tank vent is not blocked?
Anyone looking for a great builder I highly recommend the following.
For CP products dealers I would recommend:
Arlan at LED(site sponsor), Pete Schemberger at Hybrid Engineering, Mat Shearer at Shearer Custom Pipes, Dennis Packard at Packard Racing, and Nate McCoy of McCoys Peformance.

Other great builders I also would recommend: Neil Prichard, Jerry Hall, Bubba Ramsey and James Dodge.

yes tank is venting properly. jetting is go. it runs amazing when suddenly acts like it is dying or way too rich. plug is fine also. carb isn't plugged either.

sounds like an ignition issue.  time to get out the multimeter and start testing the system.

If it isn't fuel related, look for spark.

From what I have read over the years, PVL's are a pain in the arce according to almost anyone that has owned one. do you still have the factory ignition, maybe try putting it back on see if it still acts up.

plug is a BR9EIX and i dont have the factory ignition. also after it did this i stopped checked the plug and it fired right up and went another mile then did it again,
and it did it 3 more times. then after the last time it drove amazing clear back to camp. also could it be an air leak?

I had the same issue on my 396 pilot motor, I had the OEM ignition.  I then tried a CR ignition and that was my problem.

Ran good till it started doing it again. I'm very sure its the stator on the pvl.
