I currently have standard travel PEP ZPS front shocks with Laeger standard travel a-arms. After next season I'll probably go with Laeger long travel a-arms which means long travel shocks. Can I have my standard travel shocks built into long travel? Thanks.

I am not a shock builder but I would say no. The benefit of the long travel is the ability to have more valving inside the shock. With your standard travel you will be to short for the proper valving. Also your standard shocks are about 16" were the long travel is 18.5-20".

I understand what you are saying and it makes sense. I just wasn't sure if it would be possible and maybe cheaper by changing out parts in the shock rather than buying a completely new set.

scar is correct.the body of the shock is not long enough to use the longer shaft needed

That's true Dan. The current front end is very nice, no complaints, it's light and has a great set of shocks on it that I just had rebuilt by Baldwin for next season. The only reason I was thinking about changing was that with my narrow frame the +2 a-arms are really only +1 so I'm losing some width on the front. I was going to go with +3 the next time around and if I was getting all new a-arms I thought I'd go the long travel route. I guess I could always get the +3 standard travel and have the shocks revalved for the longer a-arms.

Just depends on your riding level.  Most riders do not need LT.  Nor will the be able to take advantage of the benefits.  But if you have the money for them and are already making changes to your suspension,  it's worth considering.  I have never seen +3 ST arms.

Good to know.  Theres no reason you cant do ST +3.  Just hadnt seen it.  Good luck.

Really? All my quads have +3s.

Kyle, so your running ST on all your quads? All my quads have ST set ups. I have 2 sets of LT arms on the side. I want set them up but the cost of LT shocks are expensive.  For one set I need shocks 21" long! I'm just curious as to what your running.

Nice work on your season. Way to represent our "old" quads:)

I have LT on my MX bike.  I wouldnt have it any other way.  But for my XC bike i still run ST shocks.  I actually have rebuilt 450R shocks on +2 arms for my XC bike.  They work good, but im sure there is better out there.  Just not for the money i have invested.

Bike just got torn down lol. Next spring when I get everything back together we'll go riding.
