Does anyone have clue about this? See link...
Also, anyone familiar with the 8 plate setup. Did it simply have one more trx250r plate or were they a different thickness from another bike using the same trx basket.

Uses the same plates/fibers just more of them. I didnt look at the link but its a complete package with basket,inner hub a pressure plate,cannot mix with standard 7 plate stuff. And I believe you have to use a quick change clutch cover due to the added length of the setup. Is it worth the $$$,probly not unless you race or have a big hp motor,but coolness factor yes. Ive had 2 of those setups and felt/noticed no difference,just more reliable.

Thats what I was thinking but wasn't sure. Don't race or have the horsepower....but I like the cool factor. Probably better off spending my money on plastic.

I've heard the Neil clutch mod works pretty good.

I cant total say thats my own clutch mod idea. To be honest, I got the idea years ago from a dirt bike rider & just converted the idea to the TRX250R.
One thing for sure, it will stiffen up the clutch lever from those springs being stronger & a rider thats youst to blipping the clutch lever coming out of a corner trying to keep the rpms up because they are in the wrong gear, in about a lap or two those blipping clutch fingers will be done.
After that, it wont take that rider very many races before they figure out which gear they should be in to keep their speed up going around & out of that corner.

Last I remember, that full Hinson set up, was around 1000 bucks or more & if you didnt use the oil Hinson recommended, that clutch set up was no better than any other clutch & would soon be slipping just like any other clutch.

I won't be dropping money on the Hinson any time soon. You can buy 3 Tusk complete clutch kits for the price of a Hinson plus I have other needs on the R right now. Like getting an engine rebuilt. Just trying to get educated in case I happen to come across an engine with the 8 plate setup. So whats the setup you guys are talking about?

i just talked to the sales rep from hinson, and told him of the development of the Cp line of chylinderes and the need of a clutch able to handle the load...

they are toying around with a 20th anaversary quick cover and 8 plate full clutch as a limited quanity,,
but even if thats above most peoples budget they havent forgot about us, and it wouldnt take much for them to posibly produce another run or R clutches

The idea of a twenty year anniversary edition Hinson QC for the R is gonna keep a bunch of people up at night. I don't even want to think about how they'd price them.

Hinson also makes a works basket for our quads. Uses more plates and cr125 fibers. I have one. Still new in box.

The Hinson products are consistently better than other clutch components. When I did engines for Gary Denton we used a basket Wayne made out of a solide piece of steel. Needless to say it did not break! I worked with Hinson and their clutch components from the beginning and I respect the fact that they are all about building the best products possible. Years of testing was done before the first clutch basket was ever sold.
I also have found that Dumonde Tech LWHS transmission oil with improve clutch and transmission life. This oil is great with wet clutches, and you will never have oil related slipping problems.
Don't let the clutch slip under load. Always replace the plates before they start slipping. Clutch slipping will break down and contaminate the oil. Change the oil often, and clutch and tranny life will increase.

A works basket is a totally different deal.

We all know this is a great product, expensive, but better than everything else. Second, I just got off the phone with Hinson and they have been kicking this around for sure. The website is under construction and the QC cover currently listed is an old discontinued product. We should all place orders and they will at least have to talk to everyone to cancel! Hinson is still very much a fan of the R and haven't forgotten the fact that it got things started for them. Plus they have been receiving calls like crazy. We need to put our dollars where our mouths are and make this happen....
