Hi everyone!
I have a esr 370 and am running a 40.5 pwk.
But I want to go bigger, this bike mainly a hillshooter, but I'm also not sold on the lectrons either. Any other options?

Isnt alky a pain to deal with though? Having to redo the carb, fuel pump and purge?

well it can be a pain at first but it aint bad. purging only takes a few minutes at the end of the day. maybe you can go 2days but i always did it every day i rode. if you get a lectron from packard it will be already set up. you just gotta tune it. if you got a big guzzler maybe you dont need a pump but i cant say for certain. if you want a pump its pretty easy to install.

I'm already running a pingel petcock. And I have a fuel pump laying around. What  size lectron would you suggest?

44-48. Depends on what you mostly do for riding style. Yes once you have a routine down for purging it's really quite simple and fast. I'll go two or three days max without purging   Lectrons are a very nice carb. Call Packard and he can tell you if a gravity fed one will work for you.

What about reliablity issues with alcohol? A. Its about 80% hillshooter 20% duner. Mostly because I have to dune to the hills.

Alky is alittle more forgiving you can run it on the fat side and still usually have more power then with a well tuned gas motor.  The key is to purge if it goes ignored then damage to the crank bearings and cyl occour

IMO hillshooters should probably not run alcohol, since they are on and off the throttle at least once, not sure how the old round slide mikuni's are for on off throttle response but some snowmobile drag racers still run those big bodied carbs and they are available in the bigger sizes.

Otherwise maybe you need to just stick with the 40.5 and work on pipe, cylinder head and ignition curve to make more HP you need more than just peak power to be fast racing a hill
Anyone looking for a great builder I highly recommend the following.
For CP products dealers I would recommend:
Arlan at LED(site sponsor), Pete Schemberger at Hybrid Engineering, Mat Shearer at Shearer Custom Pipes, Dennis Packard at Packard Racing, and Nate McCoy of McCoys Peformance.

Other great builders I also would recommend: Neil Prichard, Jerry Hall, Bubba Ramsey and James Dodge.

Isn't a 40.5 under carbed for a 370?

I do not recommend alcohol for recreational, dune or woods riding.  The majority of the alcohol carbs have not had all of the circuits and needles developed so that the carburetor meters accurately enough in the 0 to 3/4 throttle settings to be reliable.

I'm not going to run alcohol, but is a 40.5 pwk on the small side for a 370?

I run a 44mm Lectron on my 363 Sphinx. I'd say 50/50 dune/hill shoot. This is on 110. I ride at Pismo mostly and didn't want to have to ride back to camp all the time to refill with Alky. Seems to work just fine for me. I saw a 2hp increase and still pretty much the same hp/tq graph as with the 40.5 Keihin.
