I would probably drill a small hole through the nut with a piece of cable/wire and secure it so that I didn't loose it.  But that could be done at home

Normally the only time you loose the knob or knobs is when you forget to tighten them down for what ever reason. If they are loose then gravity will eventually make them fall off. I have run them for 8 years without loosing any on 3 of my R's. Replacement knobs are only $6 a piece.

Bottom is the ATC version. Middle one is the 86-87 version, and the top one is 88-89 version. I still have to do a clear paint on them to protect them from the  elements.

That's more like it, Tony. Good Job! Amazin' what you can do when you stop polishing your knobs long enough to make some new parts! LOL

The knobs are cast and a real pain to level up. Fire1 wanted to polish his latch and I did not have any that did not go through the sander. The waterjet makes some real sand blasted spots unable to be polished. I do not have any polished and was not planning on it. The base plates get run through the sander. and the knobs were not pretty. It is a hidden part so I was not thinking polish. I was going to just shoot them with clear paint to keep the aluminum looking natural. You can request a polish but do not know what the $$$ will be until we get to that point.

Yes , just one set. If its a lot of trouble I'll take one like they are.
