Author Topic: Brake Piston fiber inserts (Read 3531 times)

Ok, I'm trying to track down the fiber inserts that go between the piston and the brake pad. They act as a buffer and keep the heat from transfering to the caliper. I would really appreciate it if someone had a line on where I could buy some of these?? Please PM or call me Keith @ 503-348-1382

Have a pic or p/n? My pistons contact the pad directly.. I know atc rear calipers have another part though.

Its a good thing you dont race TT & got to run with a bunch of them obnoxious 4 pokers, cause you would end up boiling the rear brake fluid real quick from transfering heat if you didnt get the hole shot, from riding the rear brakes trying to keep from running over them fools going into the corners.
I've tried everything I can think of, even got them little fibers in place on the pistons, added exhaust wrap behind the pads & every time I turn around she aint got no rear brakes.
I did find one time, the piston in the master cylinder wasnt moving freely & holding the brakes on some, but fixed that & still got a brake problem.
Dang rolling into the corner 4 pokers.

Neil...you should check out glann innovations... he has some pretty wild cooling blocks for calipers and even inline coolers.

"Pistons" in my case are exactly as they came from Honda (i.e. OEM with the "fibers") so I don't have this issue you speak of Neil. To my knowledge Honda never made or offered just the fibers so you had to buy the whole piston assembly.. which is what I run.

This was posted not to long ago on the old site. Glue in an older copper penny that is made of actual copper. Yes the fiber is part of the original piston and not available separate. Most just run what they got as it really does not matter.

She tried that one night & ended up on a EMS backboard from them no riding fools.

I've had to deal with many riders like you are talking about.....Then the question becomes...how much is that plastic trophy really worth?...LOL......But when it comes to winning money that throws a whole new perspective on it.....LOL

Yeah, we do a bit better though on trophys, wood & granite, at least in the East Coast EDT locals & AMA EDT nationals, cause my wife & me in charge.
When you gona make the trip & come run some nationals with us.

I've just revisited this thread and thanks for all the feedback guys!!! I'm still a little concerned about running a coin in there, because I kinda wanted to beat this thing up on the track when its done!!!

Higgy. I used a milar ( not sure how to spell it) from ace hard wear. They worked perfectly and there shouldn't be much heat transfer
