I've been wanting a different view for my go pro and saw that people used theirs on the chin.  Just went to walmart and picked up the grab bag so I could have the j-arm mount.

Before you get crazy with cutting or drilling your helmet just know that all helmet facias and front design is different.  Mine, the front black piece and chrome piece sandwich the helmet and attach with three screws.  I cut out the center of the chrome piece and kept the screw parts to attach as normal.  I then stuck the j-arm through both without using an adhesive mount.  I then glued it into place.  I'm going to look into maybe running a zip tie or two through it for extra support.

Why I did this?  I never liked the helmet top mount since it's way up there and you always see the visor.  I like the side mount but it hits things and you don't see all of the bars.  This chin mount is damn near at eye level, it doesn't hit stuff and it's centered.  If I find it to annoy me from being upright I can always invert it and change the settings on the camera to record that way as well.

I figured I'd show this just in case someone didn't think of it.  By the way, I designed this on the intentions of it being permanent since I cut the front vent holes into one big one and it would look silly without the mount there.

I mount mine on the side, I like that view better. I have mounted mine on front like you before but I used the strap that came with my GoPro. I wasn't a big fan of it bc it weighed front helmet down and didn't like the view it gave.

I figured I'd try it out.  It's not an expensive helmet so it's good to try it on.  I do like the side for a better vertical viewing angle.  The go pro 3 seems to not weigh much.

Side note.  I think I'll be cutting out a thin aluminum plate to be screwed on with the facia pieces and back the go pro.  I'll use some 3m double sided adhesive strips to secure.  Not really any places to zip tie to so this is my option while keeping the outside of the helmet clean from bolts or rivets.

The glue didn't hold so I took it off.  I found out that the glue worked once I removed the mount.  Now it's stuck to me!
I cut up a piece of aluminum and shaped it to the back of the chrome piece and drilled holes for the factory screws to go through.  I then stacked 3M adhesive to fit.  It screwed it in place and it works like a charm.

I do have a video converting right now and I'll be putting it up shortly.  My R is down due to a clutch cable but I sat on it in the video to show how it would look.  I rode the pit bike instead.  I spoke at a normal tone to see how it would pick up audio over the exhaust and it seemed to do just fine.  Overall I like it but need to adjust the vertical view upwards a little.

I didn't either. It has free range to move up. It annoyed me while watching the video.

The best part is the mount is secure as can be and it really didn't bother me while riding. Gotta get my clunker fixed and give a true ride view.

Mine's just a white but I got it before deployment because I could either buy magpul parts for my m4 or it was the go pro.  I never looked back and got quite a few videos of all of the crap we blew up.  1100lbs of explosives and this thing was set at about 250' away.  Awesome video.  To give you an idea on the pressure that little bit puts out, we were 1800 meters away and we felt it hit our chest pretty good.

I'm looking at getting a black.  Multiple mounting points or angles with a little bit of video editing should be great.

I took the bike out today and adjusted the vertical angle on the chin mount.  It was a cold yet fun ride.  I was running rich but didn't feel like getting it changed out since I only had a short window of time to ride.

All in all, I really don't care for the mount.  It's too close to the bars and most of the time doesn't show them.  I believe I'll be going back to the side mount.  I'll have the video up sometime today.

Remember, it's running rich and it doesn't have the midrange adjusted.  It's bogging in the mid but handles 3/4.  If I shift at too low of rpm's it will bog and I have to down shift.  It also could be the fact that I didn't tighten my clutch cable and it loosened on me while riding!  Just wanted to ride and spent 30 minutes on heating the cylinder and plug to get it started.  Was 20* out.

There it is.  Like the description says, it's out of tune but I just needed to get it out when I somewhat had the chance.  This was mostly used to show how the chin mount looks.  I don't care for it too much.
All of the looking back was to try and show the snow kicking up.  I do highly recommend this mount point if you are wanting to talk a good bit during the video.  It picks up your voice without having to scream and feeling like an idiot while you're doing it!
