I am currently running a FMF pipe and Power-core II silencer on my R. I have a 310 cylinder from ESR I will be installing after I get a bit more seat time on this machine. My question is, would the FMF pipe still be good for the 310 or should I start looking for something else?

what porting did you get done to the cylinder? It never hurts to try it as youmay really like how it performs. Burns ran an FMF on his GNCC quad with a stock cylinder and really liked the power.

the FMF is good all around power, however it doesnt make "the most" power at any point, as most pipes have a specific range where they thrive. What kind of riding do you do? The port work will answer that question too.

it will work fine, but there are better pipes if you are still looking for a little more out of it

I have no idea what work is done to my current cylinder but nothing has been done to the 310. It is not bored or ported. It was one of the Engine builder cylinders so I am starting with a blank slate (at least for now, I picked it up this way).

I can probably sum up the responses you will receive here. Most are probably going to lean you towards a trx5 for all around performance. (I have not tried this pipe so I'm unsure of its abilities) Lrd is a good broad pipe. If you chose to go with led for port work which I would recommend, if you have the cash, Arlan will get you dialed. Trx9 is also a popular choice for more higher rpm riding. I would go with the lrd of those three for what you said your going to use it for. I don't know much about the fmf except it really makes no more peak power then a stock pipe but does wake it up throughout. I just purchased a paul turner 03 race, I have personally always like these pipe, as a mx/play setup. they hit hard and pull very strong, but also does not have the over rev of the trx5 or 9. Its usually a compromise somewhere, you have to decide what will suit you best.

I had a stock cylinder 250 with unknown porting and an FMF Gold series pipe. Bike sounded good but just didn't make much power. I went with an ESR 310 with thier trx9 porting and installed TRX5 pipe at same time. Wow what a huge difference from what I had. But I never ran the FMF with the 310 so I have no idea what the difference is between that and the TRX5.

I was looking at a TRX5 pipe and was thinking about sending the jug off to Arlan but I know it will probably cost some serious coin (probably worth it though). I am trying to get my suspension setup first on this machine as my previous one had a pretty cushy ride compared to most.

unlike most other people I think suspension is more important than making more power,so I think your on the right track working on that first
