I'm about to pull the trigger on a Hinson clutch basket. While I had the clutch cover off I was going switch everything out and I thought I'd have my counter balancer looked at. Does anything else need to be looked at/fixed on the balancer besides the bearing? Does anyone on here do this out of their shop or is it a fairly simple job a machine shop can handle? Also one other question, I just put an all new clutch in (fibers, steels, springs, brand new 89 upgrade, etc), would it be alright to go ahead and put that clutch pack into the new basket or should I get a whole other set so everything is new and ready to go. The clutch has maybe 4-5 hours on it. Thanks!

check the CB bearing holder on the stator side for wear. they can have excessive wear and cause issues with your CB. also, check the bolts as the longer one could be near failure.

If in doubt, then have it rebuilt. CT used to do them for $60. I bought up several used ones along time to keep as spares since I've seen them go out and knock a hole into cases. Unless you're a serious clutch abuser, I'd think your clutch should be fine.

Thanks for the tips guys. Now that I've researched a bit as well, I think I'm going to get a new cb holder, try to find all new bolts and have it rebuilt while I have it all apart and just be done with it after that. Some peace of mind you could say. I'm pretty easy on the clutch so I agree Mennis, I'll just have to take a look when I swap them out. I will probably take a look at the water pump and impeller too.
